SPIRIT COMMUNICATION

(From Book II Odyssey of the Soul, Light: The Act of Creation

Copyright: 2004 Pamela Chilton, Hugh Harmon Ph.D.)

All spirit communication in the realms of form is mental communication. Your spirits are embodied in physical forms with voice boxes which is why you like to voice your thoughts as well as think them. This does not mean, however, that you no longer communicate mentally.

Family members frequently communicate with one another mentally as do friends and colleagues who associate closely with one another. You are not always consciously aware of these mental communications and many of you do not even believe they happen despite the clear evidence that they do.

Most of you, for example, have had the experience of thinking of getting in contact with a person and before you can do so that person contacts you or you meet "unexpectedly". Those who have not had such an experience personally know or have heard of people who have.

Most of you, for another example, have had the experience of suddenly having strong thoughts and feelings about a person then later discovering your thoughts and feelings were an accurate indicator of what was happening to that person at that time. Those who have not had this experience personally know or have heard of people who have.

What are the odds of such experiences being "coincidental" when everyone has either had the experience or knows of someone who has? Yet some of you would rather put more faith in astronomical odds than believe in evidence placed right in front of you. So be it. You are beings of free will.

That such experiences happen is evidence you are aware on an inner level of your minds of these mental communications. There is much you are aware of at inner levels of awareness that you are not aware of at your outer, or conscious, level of awareness. This is because you have learned since infancy to shut down, or block off, or tune out these inner levels. There are reasons for this as we shall discuss. We shall also discuss ways in which you can open yourselves again to these levels.

Mental communication is often called mental telepathy or extra sensory perception. There are some who are open to this natural ability of your minds and spirits. Few, however, master it.

I shall tell you a story of two who did. Like all great stories, this is a true story. It a story about Jesus and a Greek Physician named Lucanus, who later became known as the Apostle Luke. I use Jesus frequently to illustrate the enlightenment I bring you. This is because so many of you know of Jesus of Nazareth. He was a great Jewish Rabbi and the inspiration for Catholicism and all of the other Churches of Christianity. He is revered as a spiritual teacher among Hindus, Buddhists, and Muslims. Those who make Nature their religion certainly are aware of the mastery of Jesus in the realms of Nature. Even the majority of those who have little interest in or use for Jesus have heard of him. He has what the promoters among you call great name recognition.

A Story Of Luke

Lucanus, now Luke, was known by many more people than Jesus in Jesus’ time. A renown physician and scholar ever in search of greater knowledge, Luke, loved the sea. His "hospital rounds", you might say, included many hundreds of households along the Mediterranean. Thus he heard all of the news and gossip of the day, including stories of a healer Rabbi named Jesus.

Much intrigued, Luke longed to see for himself this healer teacher of extraordinary reputation. Yet, he could not in good conscience take the time required for such a trip for he tended to thousands who relied on him for physical healing and whatever mental and emotional cures he could offer as well. So he planned a different trip, for among his many skills, Luke was adept at out of body traveling.

It is not such a difficult thing for the spirit to travel beyond the physical form in which it is embodied. It is a natural ability you all have. What is difficult is to consciously direct these travels, remain cognizant throughout them, and to bring back full knowledge of that cognizance. This Luke could do after much training and practice. So in a long meditation in his own study, where he would not be interrupted, Luke traveled out of his body to find and observe Jesus.

Luke found Jesus speaking privately with his apostles. Luke stood apart to observe and listen to Jesus. To his astonishment, Jesus turned in his direction and nodded. It was clear to Luke that Jesus was aware of his presence. To his further astonishment, Jesus began to converse with him mentally even as he continued to converse verbally with his apostles on other matters.

There were many more out of body visits to Jesus after this one for Luke loved to converse with Jesus and learn from him. The importance of consciousness in the healing work Jesus did greatly impressed Luke. Not that Jesus spoke directly of consciousness to the populace or his apostles for they would not have understood. He spoke to Luke of these things for Luke’s education, knowledge and understanding were of a level of sophistication rare not only in those days but this day as well.

The day came when Jesus summoned Luke. This was unusual, for normally it was Luke who would search out and find Jesus. Luke found Jesus waiting for him under an olive tree on the top of a small hill as his apostles waited in the garden below.

Jesus informed Luke that he, Jesus, would soon be leaving his physical body and moving into spirit. Jesus quieted Luke’s protests, telling him to think of this departure with great joy for not only had he, Jesus, completed his part in a very important mission, he had completed, as well, his life times on the Earth. He had achieved full spiritual mastery.

Jesus spoke to Luke at length of the mission he was now leaving in the hands of others.

"Many beings in this world and others," Jesus told Luke, "consider humans as invaluable beasts of burden, superior to all other life forms for enslavement. The physical strength of humans, while less than many other life forms, is made more than equal by their extraordinary physical and mental dexterity. Add to this the ability of humans to adapt to nearly any environment and to survive the most extreme hardships. When you consider all of this and the relative ease with which humans can be controlled through their physical appetites and their emotions, it becomes clear why human beings are so vulnerable to enslaving forces.

"We must help humans," Jesus told Luke, "to wrest themselves free of those who enslave them and those who would bring even greater enslavement. We can only do this by reminding humans they are spiritual beings. Only in this way will humans use their free will to successfully resist those who deny them awareness and understanding of their spiritual power.

"For it is not enough to claim one’s free will," Jesus taught Luke. "One must understand how one’s own free will is used against one. This knowledge humans do not yet have. Nor are they ready to receive it. The mission, Lucanus, is to lovingly and patiently teach humans to know themselves, to be aware of their spirits and to understand how their minds and free will work."

Luke argued with Jesus, saying: "Your mastery makes you the perfect teacher for the people. You must teach them these things. Your part in this mission cannot possibly be finished. You must be mistaken about this."

"No Lucanus," Jesus answered, "I am the way. This was my part of the mission, to be the living demonstration of the spiritual enlightenment that is achieved through self mastery. It is for others to teach the knowledge that leads to self-mastery. This must be done at the pace that is in keeping with the evolution of the human brain and human consciousness.

"The forces that would keep humans from evolving into their spiritual potential are many. The will of these forces is mighty and their power is formidable. Yet, they too, must obey the spiritual laws and these laws have, thus far, kept them from enslaving humans to the degree that keeps humans from evolving. For humans hold freedom dear and as long as humans focus their will on freedom they cannot be enslaved to the degree that stops their growth in consciousness and thus the evolution of their brains.

"The day will come," Jesus warned Luke, "when humans will be ready to embrace their spirituality and the understanding of how their free will can be used against them. When that day comes those who would block humans from this knowledge will unite in their efforts to enslave and exploit the human populace.

"There will be great trials and tribulations as the enslaving forces use all that they can to divert the human will from freedom. They will addict humans to comforts and substances that weaken them. They will pollute the earth and drive people out of the sunlight and the air to lessen their physical strength and mental clarity. They will create unrest, distrust, envy, selfishness and greed. They will weaken the structure of every society and use religion to turn good people against good people. They will use uncertainty, confusion and terror to convince humans to give up freedom after freedom in the name of greater safety and security. Finally, they will offer to rescue humans and to keep them protected from the terror they have created for this very purpose.

"I tell you now Lucanus that this generation shall not pass away until these things come to pass. Should the mission fail, should humans choose to turn from freedom to fear the Earth itself shall suffer cataclysmic destruction. Those humans that remain shall become completely enslaved. Yea, even those humans who sought to enslave their fellow humans shall perish or shall themselves become enslaved."

Jesus confided in Luke that he had forewarned his followers of the days that were to come in which the Earth and humans would be greatly imperiled. He had foretold to them also that they would be embodied in those days but they had not understood his words. Luke, he knew, would understand for Luke was aware that the soul embodies in many lifetimes.

Jesus reminded Luke that his soul, Luke’s soul, had once lived as Abraham - father of three tribes of generations who would wage war and terror against one another as pawns of the enslaving forces.

"Make to me a promise," Jesus asked of Luke, "that the soul of Abraham and Lucanus will carry on this mission. That you will commit this lifetime and future lifetimes to gathering the knowledge that will enlighten the human mind and that you will share this knowledge with all who will listen in the days that are to come when the end seems nigh."

Luke’s soul wept for it knew what Jesus was asking of it and it knew also that the mission could as easily fail as succeed. Luke begged Jesus to relieve him of such a promise for he despaired of such a failure and feared the burden it would place upon his soul.

"Fear not Lucanus," Jesus solaced him, "for no soul shall ever perish and even should the mission fail the human saga shall not end. Much time shall be lost. Much needless hardship endured. Beings other than the human shall suffer greaty as well, but verily I say unto you that shall the mission fail, the day will come when humans will free themselves from tyranny and begin once more the evolution of human consciousness into spiritual enlightenment.

"You, Lucanus, shall not live upon the Earth to see the failure of the mission, should this come to pass. All of those who carry out this mission shall be lifted from the Earth and shall move into higher realms of consciousness.

"It is not your part of the mission to determine whether it has succeeded or failed Lucanus. This burden belongs to another. Nor shall you be alone in your mission. You shall meet others who have committed themselves to the mission. All of my apostles shall be embodied again in the days of which I speak as will others. Judge not the roles that people play for some are asked to serve as followers and some as adversaries. You will know souls by their light, not their roles. Light souls play dark roles when it serves a spiritual purpose.

"You shall meet in those latter days the soul of my life companion today and the soul of my son whose soul was once your son, Lucanus, when your soul lived as Abraham. There is another soul embodied today that has long guided this mission and shall continue to do so after I am gone. That soul has long been linked with yours. It is the soul that joined with Abraham to give birth to all of his sons. Herein is a mystery for you to ponder, Lucanus, but know that this soul shall be with yours in those latter days and the union of your souls shall bring forth the enlightenment that will save the populace of the Earth should they choose to be saved.

"I ask you again for your promise Lucanus. Will you commit your soul to what I have asked of it?"

Luke gave his promise but it was not done lightly for he knew the journey would be difficult and so it has been.

Luke left his life as a physician and devoted the remainder of his days to chronicling the life and teachings of Jesus. This was difficult for Luke for he felt great responsibility to his patients and believed himself to be abandoning them to inferior care. But he had made a promise and he knew continuing his life as a physician using knowledge he already had would not further the mission. So he left his practice and traveled, in the body this time, to the people among whom Jesus walked and taught.

Since that life time, Luke’s soul has lived several life times of great challenge. As a padre and confident to Queen Isabella of Spain, his soul tried to introduce through her influence and under her protection spiritual enlightenment for the people that went beyond the teachings of the Church. The Queen, however, was naïve as was the Padre in his belief that the power of the throne could protect him against the power of the Church. He died on the rack, tortured beyond endurance and as his soul left the broken body it took with it grave doubts and despair. Both of which led to more life times of suffering.

There has been joy as well in the odyssey of the soul that was Abraham and Luke. That soul is embodied today and once again it has been asked to make the choice between serving the needs of individuals or keeping the promise made to Jesus long ago beneath an olive tree on a hill.

Recognizing the ability to communicate mentally with others has served the soul that was once Abraham and Luke well. It is a recognition this soul has put to good use in its life time as Hugh Harmon.

As a small child Hugh William Harmon was called Billy. Like most small children, Billy knew what others around him were thinking and feeling. He was rebuffed, as are most small children, when he tried to talk about what he perceived mentally.

When a child says "don’t be sad", for example, and the one to whom the child is speaking denies feeling sadness the message to the child is to deny what they perceive mentally. Soon the child learns it is easier to simply tune out this ability.

Many children, however, discover animals, unlike humans, do not block mental communication. This is why children bond so readily with animals. They know animals to be sentient beings with thoughts and feelings. Which is why children find it difficult to continue communicating with animals. They cannot bear the thoughtlessness with which animals are treated and so they begin to "pretend" as other humans do that animals cannot think or feel. To do this they must, of course, tune out their ability to mentally communicate with animals and so another barrier to mental communication is built.

It is a short progression from tuning out the thoughts and feelings of other beings to tuning out the thoughts and feelings of one’s own being.

"Mommy, Daddy," the child complains to the parents, "stop fighting. You are hurting my tummy."

"Don’t be silly," the parents chide the child guiltily, "your tummy hurts because something is wrong with it. What did you eat and drink today? Did you wash your hands first? Were you around other children with a cough or sniffles? Did you fall or get hit in your stomach? Did you play in the grass?"

Thus children learn that diet, germs, viruses, physical impact or allergies can cause stomach aches, but not emotional distress or angry words. It is in this way also that children are taught not to trust the communications from their own bodies but to rely instead on the opinions of caretakers.

Do you see how insidiously you train yourselves and each other to tune out or block your abilities to communicate mentally not only with others, but with your own selves as well?

Some children, like Billy, resist this. Billy didn’t mind tuning out the thoughts of the adults around him as he found these thoughts to be generally unhappy or boring to him. He was not, however, about to let go of the ability to tune right back in whenever he found it desirable to do so. Young Billy knew an advantage when he saw one and he was not about to squander such a valuable asset as knowing what others are thinking.

Billy never tuned out the mental communications of animals. He loved animals, wild or tamed, and he tried to help all animals help themselves by teaching them how to avoid harm by altering their behavior in ways that would be beneficial to them. This was a frustrating task for he could rarely, if ever, get animals to consistently follow the guidance he gave them. A forewarning, one might say, of his life’s work.

Billy wanted to become an animal psychologist. As he grew into a man, however, he was steered by his family into medical school instead. After a class in medical hypnosis, he found himself much more intrigued by the power of the mind to heal the body. So he left medical school to obtain doctorates in human psychology and religion.

Some years later, Hugh received a third doctorate in metaphysics. It is telling of his personality that this is the doctorate he chooses to display on his wall. It is also telling of his personality that he chose not to be directed by a licensing board as to how he could or could not practice his healing work with the mind, body, and soul.

Eschewing a license as a psychologist, Hugh opened a clinical hypnosis practice and devoted the next five decades of his life to helping people help themselves by teaching them how to avoid harm and how to heal by altering their behavior in ways that are beneficial to them. It has been challenging work for humans, too, are as resistant to change as were the animals Billy tried to guide.

Hugh, however, had an advantage Billy did not: After years of research and observation Hugh opened to the awareness it is thought that drives behavior for it is thought that determines brain chemistry and triggers emotions. It is thought that generates the imbalances that lead to illness, disease, and the breaking down of form. It is thought that allows or blocks healing. It is by altering thoughts fixed in the mind that resistance to change can be overcome.

Overcoming resistance to change is the key to healing for as long as the mind resists change behavior, brain chemistry and emotions will not change and thus the cells will not receive the support needed to maintain balance.

Overcoming resistance to change is the key to enlightenment and thus the key to the positive evolution of all species and beings.

As Hugh approached his "retirement years", he never thought of retiring. He had dedicated his life to helping many thousands of individuals transform themselves physically, emotionally, mentally and often spiritually. He had taught hundreds of students as much as they were willing to absorb of the knowledge he had gathered over his years of working with the mind and thus with the body and the soul. Personal pleasure had become meaningless to him in the face of the increasing ills of society and the corresponding increase of stress, strife and illness in people’s lives. It was his thought that his life work was teaching and helping individuals and that he would continue this work until his last breath. Then Pamela came into his life

Pamela’s soul is the soul that Jesus spoke of to Luke beneath the olive tree in the garden. When Pamela joined with Hugh both were reminded of their part in the mission of teaching humans how to become aware of the power of their will and to understand how to use this power for themselves not against themselves.

It is a mission shared by many souls, sometimes knowingly and sometimes unknowingly. It is a mission you share or you would not be reading or listening to these words. It is a mission of many generations duration. It is a mission that will continue for many generations if all proceeds as GOD desires it.

Can GOD will this mission to succeed? Of course. GOD’S will prevails over the will of all for GOD is THE SOURCE of all. Does GOD will this mission to prevail? Of course not. GOD’S WORD is that Spirit have free will. The meaning of free will is GOD never interferes with the will of any spirit.

Could GOD choose to interfere with the will of Spirit? I shall answer by asking you to ponder these questions: How powerful is your word? When you speak your word does the universe immediately respond? Can you calm the winds and the seas by your word alone? Can you speak your word and all that hear your will obey it?

Why is it you cannot do these things? Do you speak or think your word only to change it later? How meaningful and powerful are words that are not honored by the source of these words?

Were you to mean every word you thought and every word you spoke at every level of your soul and spirit your will, too, would be obeyed by all that hear it.

The soul is often divided against itself until the soul learns self mastery. My meaning is there are many aspects of each individual soul. Spirit has free will. Thus, each aspect of spirit has free will. Thus, every soul has free will and every aspect of every soul also has free will. You may want one thing mentally and want the complete opposite of that emotionally or spiritually.

You may love freedom, for example, but fear threats to your freedom to such a degree that you are willing to give up freedom in exchange for greater security. You may know what would be fulfilling for you, but your desire to please others who want something else quite different for you is so strong you ignore your knowing and sacrifice your desires. You may make a vow that is meaningful to you but find it so difficult to keep that vow that you dismiss the vow as meaningless.

This is how the soul is divided against itself. This is how your will is divided and can be used against you. This is why your word is not honored.

GOD is not divided. Even when aspects of GOD disagree, GOD is not divided. Just as your arm is part of you, but is not you, Spirit is part of GOD, but is not GOD. Spirit and souls can disagree with GOD and GOD is not divided. GOD’S WORD is always honored and obeyed.

It is GOD’S WORD that spirit have free will. GOD honors that WORD. So while it is GOD’S desire that humans not become enslaved or destroyed on a massive scale it is not GOD’S WILL. GOD does not interfere with the will of spirit, therefore GOD does not interfere with the human will.

GOD does however, offer to you guidance. GOD uses the systems in place for bringing this guidance to you. You call the messengers that bring guidance many names. Among them are: Angels. Archangels. Prophets. Holy Ones. Enlightened Beings. Spirit Guides. Visionaries. Spiritual Leaders.

Yet, the forces that would enslave you and the forces that would destroy you trick you by telling you they are angels, archangels, prophets, holy ones, enlightened beings, spirit guides, visionaries, spiritual leaders, saviors, benevolent beings and the like. They can appear to you in any form they choose and they can call themselves any name they want to call themselves.

A spirit can tell you it is GOD or a prophet of GOD. A spirit can tell you it is LIGHT. Spirits can lie and deceive. There is no spiritual law that says they cannot. Some of you solace yourselves with the belief there is a spiritual law that prohibits spirits from lies and deceit. Others solace yourselves with the belief there is a spiritual law that forces spirits to give their true identity when questioned directly. These are false beliefs.

Spirit has free will. There are Spiritual Laws agreed to by all of spirit for these are the principles upon which the realms of form are built and maintained. Without them, Creation would cease to be. Among these laws or principals is what might be called the Law of Cause and Effect. Thus, there are consequences for every lie and every deceit.

Yet, how many of you realize this? How many understand what this means? How many believe it even if they are told about it? How many would even heed it when they are told the consequences may come sooner than later? Those who love power are often willing to pay whatever they must pay later in exchange for greater power now.

You do yourselves a grave disservice to believe spirits that are in the spirit state have greater awareness, understanding, knowledge and spirituality simply because they are in the spirit state.

There are many spirits that seek to mislead for their own purposes. There are many spirits that seek to mislead for what they believe is for a good purpose. They are spirits that do not hesitate to mislead others if they believe they know what is best for others. There are spirits who are themselves entrapped by conceit and deceit as they try to comply with their own or others desires.

TO ILLUSTRATE

A group of people who shared a fascination with the channeling of spirit shared as well as fascination with the pyramid tombs of Egyptian Pharaohs. So naturally the group asked that a spirit in the spirit world that was an expert on the pyramid tombs of the Pharaohs speak through the member of the group designated the official spirit channel.

Now, the communications of mind and spirit are like a vast broadcasting system. They are not hidden in any way, therefore any spirit desiring to tune into and respond to these communications is able to do so. Of course, not all spirits know this. Did you know this? There are many, many levels, planes and realms of spirit. Simply being in the spirit state does not convey knowledge upon a spirit. This knowledge must be gained through many sojourns in many levels, realms and planes.

The first spirit to respond to the group’s request and invitation was the spirit of a deceased professor of archeology. The professor was very knowledgeable about the pyramid of a particular Pharaoh for he had not only studied the pyramid and taught of it, he had been inside of it as well. The information the professor presented through the channel was detailed and to those interested in such details quite interesting.

However, another spirit soon interrupted the professor by announcing through the channel that he knew even more than the Professor for he had been very close to the Pharaoh and had participated in a secret ritual in the burial chamber itself before it was plundered.

This spirit was the spirit of a thief that was indeed right next to the Pharaoh’s sarcophagus as he stole in secret from the burial chamber. Not that the thief said he had been a thief, of course. Thieves rarely divulge this information whether they are embodied or in spirit. When asked his name the thief gave a name other than his own. He was fearful of the priests be believed guarded the shadowy boundaries of the underworld to which he believed himself banished for robbing the Pharaoh’s tomb. He thought to hide his name so the priests would not find him.

The thief was drawn to the group by two desires. The first was to feel important for who knows more about a tomb than the thief that plundered it? Secondly, he hoped to gain favor with the priests if they caught him by letting them know he deliberately mislead the group to keep from them information about the Pharaoh and his tomb he suspected the Pharaoh and his priests would not want known.

The thief was experienced in captivating people with an enthralling mixture of fact and fantasy. It was not difficult for him to replace the spirit of the professor as the group’s favorite. Properly miffed the spirit of the professor moved on. Nor did any other spirit intervene. Partly because the group had found the spirit they wanted and so they and the spirit channel asked for this spirit specifically. Also because the spirit of the thief knew the fine art of intimidation and used it to keep other spirits away.

Of course the group became more and more intrigued with the charming thief especially when he began to describe the life of the Pharaoh and his family in intimate detail. The thief had indeed lived in the days of the Pharaoh and knew a great deal of gossip as well as facts about him and his family. He also knew how concoct tantalizing tales to spice up both gossip and fact. It wasn’t long before the group began to wonder if the spirit was really the Pharaoh himself.

The spirit of the thief was aware of their thoughts and though he knew the priests, not to mention the Pharaoh, would be very displeased should they discover this group and their thoughts he was himself very pleased. He had never been mistaken for a Pharaoh and it was intoxicating to imagine the respect he would command from them were he to pretend to be the Pharaoh. This thought seduced him of course, so you know what happened next.

At first, he thought of it as a game. But, naturally, the moment he announced himself as the Pharaoh the game took over and he became the Pharaoh in his mind as well as in the minds of the group. Imagine their excitement to discover they were channeling a Pharaoh of ancient Egypt. Imagine the pride of the person doing the channeling.

Groups have a very powerful energy with which to empower whatever they focus their combined energy on. Emotions, too, have powerful energy. The once thief and now "Pharaoh" of Egypt gained power from the energies of the group. As his power grew he became more emboldened. As he became more emboldened he lost his fear of the priests. They should serve him, became his thinking, not he them.

It did not take long for him to decide the group should also serve him. Unlike a real Pharaoh the thief did not except the group to serve him for nothing. He knew people and he knew people always want something in return for services rendered. He also knew people find themselves and the future fascinating so he began telling members of the group about themselves and the future.

This was not difficult to do. All a spirit has to do to tell people about themselves is tune into their thoughts, emotions and memories. As to the future, the spirit of the thief had his own ideas about the future. These were based partly on what others were thinking, partly on conjecture and largely on pure invention.

Word spread. The popularity of "The Pharaoh" grew. Many came to hear him and to receive personal sessions with him. The prosperity of the group and the channel of "The Pharaoh" increased as did the size of the group. The energy around the channel when "The Pharaoh" spoke also increased because of the energy of the group. The spirit of the thief used this energy and the power it gave him to build an energy body of a Pharaoh. Those who could see this energy body reported "The Pharaoh" to be almost seven feet tall and richly robed, with the hawk nosed features and haughty bearing of Egyptian royalty.

Though the thief had become a Pharaoh, at least in his mind and in the minds of many others, he was restless. He had usurped as much of the life of his channel as was possible to do from the spirit world. It had been easy to do for the acclaim that came as "The Pharaoh’s Channel" was as satisfying to the ego as it was socially and financially rewarding. But the thief who had become a Pharaoh wanted more. After all, what good are earthly pleasures if one does not have a physical body of one’s own to enjoy them physically?

So began the struggle between the spirit of the channel and the spirit being channeled for physical control of the channel’s body.

s

How does the story end? If these was a true story, I would tell you. It is not a true story, however. It is an illustration of how easily spirit communication can lead to deception and misinformation.

I did not present this illustration to frighten you from communicating with spirit. After all, you communicate with the minds and thus the spirits of friends, associates, and loved ones daily. You also communicate more often than you recognize with the spirits of loved ones who have died, meaning they have passed from this plane into other planes of spirit. You often deny this communication by telling yourselves or allowing others to tell you these communications are "only wishful thinking" or "only dreams". There is nothing "only" or "wishful" about these communications. Those who are in other planes of spirit do communicate with you in your thoughts and in your dreams.

Spirit communication is natural to you. You all do it, but relatively few of you realize you do it and of those few even fewer do it knowledgeably. The purpose of my illustration of the Egyptian thief, indeed the purpose of this book, is to increase your knowledge of spirit communication and thereby help you restore for yourselves your natural abilities to discern truth.

You will not know if any being or spirit is misinforming or deceiving you if you cannot discern truth. You will not know if you are misinforming or deceiving yourselves or others if you cannot discern truth.

You will not know if the words in this book are or are not from GOD’S LIGHT if you cannot discern truth. Nor will you know whether the words from GOD’S LIGHT have or have not been written accurately by Pamela if you cannot discern truth.

To know truth, you must know spirit and to know spirit you must know the mind. Those who are interested only in the body and the levels of physical reality in which the body dwells must also know the spirit and the mind for all physical reality is an aspect of mind and spirit.

Your minds can discern truth, although they will not always tell you the truth. Why? Because you do not always want the truth. If you have by word or thought informed the mind to keep certain truths from you, it will. If you have been taught to believe in certain things and to not entertain any other possibilities your minds will not bring other possibilities to your awareness even if these possibilities are truth.

The spiritual level or Higher Self level of your spirit can discern truth. I have much to tell you of the Higher Self levels of your spirits. However, I shall point out again that all spirit must communicate through the mind in the realms of form. You cannot use the Higher Self to discern truth if you have set your mind to blocking your Higher Self guidance.

You have much to gain by gaining greater understanding of your minds. Let us then, before we discuss spirit channels and spirit mediums discuss a bit more of the mind.
