To connect with the source. What source? The source of spiritual
energy, the source of life energy.
You don't even have to name this source. It is that it is and
it is omnipresent.
The energy from this source is with you. Were it not, you would
not exist - nor would your mind or your body.
This is the energy that renews the body. It is the energy that
heals the body and the emotions. It is the energy that keeps bodies
youthful and healthy. It is the energy that keeps the brain functioning
and the hormones balanced. It is the energy your spirit and mind
use to manipulate your reality. It is the energy your spirit and
mind use to manifest your desires. All of your desires: financial,
spiritual, emotional, physical. This energy is your power.
YOU regulate how much and how little you receive of this energy
and power. How? With your thoughts. With your words. With your emotions.
With your actions.
If you receive insufficient amounts of this energy, you will not
heal, you will not remain healthy, you will not renew your body,
you will not be balanced, you will not feel or be powerful, you
will not manifest your desires.
The purpose of meditation is to empty yourself of all thoughts,
words, emotions and actions so nothing blocks or diminishes the
full amount of energy you need, require, and desire.
The mind is used to being busy, the emotions are used to calling
for attention, the body is used to movement. However, these are
all learned behaviors and can be unlearned. There is certainly ample
incentive for doing so.
Below are steps to take for quieting your mind and emotions and
settling your body into the "silence" within you where
you will be connected with the source and open to the energy and
power you need from it.
Meditate daily. Do not blame or judge yourself for days you do
not meditate. You will come to notice the difference in yourself
and your life between when you are meditating and when you are not.
This will be the greatest motivation possible for daily meditation.
Do not expect or want paranormal, or psychic, or spiritual things
to happen during the meditation. Your goal is to move into the "silence"
where nothing blocks or interferes with the flow of energy from
the source to you.
Should you have paranormal, psychic, or spiritual experiences,
rejoice, ask for understanding from your Higher Self. (See Seven
Steps For Spiritual Guidance.) Then meditate in silence as soon
as possible. Often such experiences "drain" energy, you
will need to replace this energy with meditation.
We have other meditations listed in Treasure Chest. There are
many other types of meditations. Each has its own purpose. These
steps are for the important mission of connecting daily with the
power source of universal energy.
HOW TO MEDITATE
- Sit down or lie down. In general, it is better to sit, for lying
down is a mental cue to sleep. In general, it is best to keep
your spine straight to allow the "kundalini" (life force,
spiritual energy) to flow evenly throughout your energy field
and physical body.
- Make your intention clear. You are connecting with the Source.
- Give yourself the mental or verbal cue of how long the meditation
is to be. This may vary day to day.
- Quiet your mind and settle your body. How? Focus on a single
thought, sound, image, or feeling. Music, even new age music,
is likely to trigger busy thoughts, emotions, or physical sensations.
A single thought or sound might consist of more than one word
- as in a mantra - but said or thought over and over tends to
bring the mind into a singular focus. Focusing on breathing can
quiet the mind and settle the body.
- Move Into The Silence. Eventually you will be able to do this.
It may be for only a short period at first, then it will become
extended periods of time. You may find you "fall asleep".
Actually, this is an "unconscious state". All is well.
You are "doing it right". Were you asleep? Not if you
made your intention clear.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU CANNOT QUIET YOUR MIND, EMOTIONS, OR BODY
Birds - like busy thoughts, emotions, and bodies - will flock
around to be fed days, sometimes weeks, after you have stopped feeding
them. First all will come. Then fewer, and fewer, and fewer until
even the last bird will cease to come. You can out-wait birds. You
can out-wait your busy self too.
If this becomes increasingly difficult instead of easier, you
are getting a clear signal that there are inner levels of your mind,
your spirit, or your body that are crying out for help. Seek help.
Hypnotherapy is often the fastest way of finding out who or what
needs help and what kind of help.
