Hugh Harmon is first and foremost a teacher. Like all great teachers, he is an avid researcher and student - eager to discover and learn. He is a man of conviction, yet he keeps an open mind and does not hesitate to consider and investigate the knowledge and discoveries of others even when these conflict with his own.

The mind has always been of great interest to him and after observing the power of the mind to heal the body in a hypnosis class in medical school, he left the school to obtain a doctorate in psychology instead. Two other doctorates followed as well as extensive research and study of parapsychology, metaphysics and alternative therapies.

His greatest education over the past half century, however, has come from his clinical practice as he has helped many thousands discover the knowledge and power of their own minds and spirits.

A successful business man who has served country and community through military service as well as service on numerous professional and civic boards, Hugh likes to think of himself as a conservative and open minded traditionalist. He is that. He is also a highly gifted channel.

He dislikes being called a channel for as Pamela wrote in Book I : "Channeling, like religion, suffers from the company it sometimes keeps".

I shall caution Pamela to be wary of her cleverness when it hides within it - and none too well - censure and disapproval. I shall remind her religion, like channeling, has brought forth many truths and even that which is false in both is often well intended.

I shall also point out that channeling is an important part of all religions and spiritual practices. To channel is to transmit or receive information or energy. What then is a prophet if not a channel? Scriptures channel information, do they not? Is not prayer channeling? Rituals are a medium of channeling as is meditation.

All healing is a form of channeling as is the maintenance of good health. Medications are channeled through the body and brain, as are herbs, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. The spiritual energy that is the life force of the body is channeled. Blood is channeled. Oxygen is channeled. Nerve impulses are channeled. Body fluids are channeled. Brain chemistry is channeled.

What is instinct, if not channeling? The physical senses channel data to the brain which processes the data to determine the best responses of the body. These directions to the body are channeled to the body by the brain.

What is intuition, if not channeling? The brain and the spirit both channel information to the mind which then determines the best course of action or reaction and channels this information to the spirit.

You have no doubt noted that intuition and instinct are at times in opposition. Your instinct is to run, for example, but your intuition tells you to stay put. Or your instincts tell you a person is desirable to be with, but your intuition warns you to avoid being with that person.

Instinct is part of the animal natures of your bodies. It is a powerful tool for the survival of your bodies. Intuition is part of the spiritual nature of your souls. Add intuition to instinct and you and your bodies are doubly protected and guided in your life experiences.

Inspiration is a channeling of ideas, insights, and creativity from various levels of mind and spirit - sometimes from your own, but just as frequently from minds and spirits other than your own.

Einstein, for example, was an excellent channel. Few scientists would call him a good, even an adequate, researcher. He projected new ideas into science. Where did he get these ideas?

Unlike many, Einstein did not dismiss his thoughts as meaningless. He explored his thoughts and thus opened himself to channeled knowledge from many levels of mind and spirit, including his own. He later channeled, if you would, this knowledge to fellow scientists through the language of mathematics.

If you were to become more aware of your own natural abilities to channel you would realize how frequently you, too, channel higher knowledge, inspiration, healing energy and spiritual guidance from spirit.

It is not channeling that is the problem. Channeling is natural to your bodies, your brains, your minds, and your spirits.

The challenge of channeling is discernment.

Discerning what is good and what is not good for your bodies and your brains is important, for each will channel what is bad for them as well as what is good for them.

Discerning between positive and negative thoughts and emotions is important, for your bodies, brains and minds channel the negative as well as the positive.

Discerning between the guidance and knowledge of spirits who are truly spiritual masters and those who want or proclaim to be masters without foundation is important for the well being of your minds, bodies, and spirits.

Hugh understands the channeling of spirit to a degree greater than most because he understands the mind to a degree greater than most. He has observed a great deal of spirit channeling in his many years of spiritual studies. He has seen enough to note with sadness and frustration how frequently the "bloated nothingness" - as he likes to quote from Emerson - of the channel’s ego seeps into channeling.

I, LIGHT, might point out to him now that the "bloated nothingness" that seeps into spirit channeling is as frequently that of the spirit being channeled as it is of the one doing the channeling. Merely being in the spirit realms is a poor credential for worthiness in guiding and teaching others. The ego is part of many spirit realms, not just that of the human realms.

It was his fear of his own "bloated nothingness" that kept Hugh from experimenting himself with channeling - until Pamela came along.

Pamela is, like Hugh, a gifted spirit channel, though she is more a spirit medium than Hugh chooses to be. I shall explain the difference between a spirit channel and a spirit medium. First, however, we shall discuss thought and vibration for each are of great importance when channeling spirit.

You think of thought as words. Words are one aspect of thought, but thought is not words. Thought is impulses of light. Information and energy are transmitted and received - channeled - through the light impulses of thought.

Spirit that is not in the realms of form communicates through the light impulses of thought. Spirit in the realms of form are in the realms of the mind, as we shall discuss. The communication of spirit in the realms of form is mind to mind. Meaning the mind is the medium through which spirit channels thought when in the realms of form. When the mind receives the light impulses of thought, it coverts these impulses into the symbolic images that are the language of the mind.

Symbolic images are pictures that have meaning. The mind does not require speech for communication for the picture language of the mind is easily transmitted from mind to mind via the light impulses of spirit.

Just think of the marvel of this. As you think of contacting a friend, for example, a mental image of you contacting your friend is transmitted instantly via a light impulse to your friend. Your friend’s mind instantly receives this light impulse and just as instantly decodes the light impulse and converts it into a mental image of you in contact with your friend.

This mind to mind communication - often called mental telepathy - happens continually to all of you. You are not aware of it because you have learned to "tune out" this level of mental activity when awake. Even when you sleep and tune into it, you tend to dismiss it as "only dreams".

You learn as children to prefer speech over mind to mind communication so your minds learn to translate the mental imagery of the mind into words. You become so fixated on words soon you begin to think in words too. It is an added step for your minds, this translation of mental imagery into words, but it soon becomes as automatic as converting light impulses into mental images and mental images into light.

It may seem a burdensome and unnecessary step this adding on of words and speech when your minds are so adept at mental imagery and mind to mind communication, but it does make sense. You are, after all, in a realm of physical senses where sound is as important to the survival and enjoyment of your bodies as sight, smell, and touch.

What is amusing is your yearning for loved ones who are in spirit to communicate with you as they did when embodied in physical forms. You want to see them, touch them, and speak with them. Yet, they no brains or voice boxes through which to channel speech. They have no physical forms for you to see or touch.

This confuses you because people claim to have seen, heard and been touched by spirits.

This is partly true. What people have experienced are the energy fields of spirit. Spirit does not, itself, have form. The essence of spirit is light and to see "pure spirit" you would see spirit as light. However, when spirit wishes to be in a form it either enters a form already created or creates one of its own through the use of energy fields.

How spirit creates energy fields as well as how spirit uses energy fields to create form we shall discuss in the chapter Energy & Form. Right now, let us focus on how disembodied spirits - meaning spirits not in physical bodies - look when they appear to you.

Have you ever blown bubbles? Remember how they look? They appear lighter than air. They are visible, though in their shimmering translucence they seem barely there until "poof" they disappear and are seemingly no longer anywhere.

Energy fields of non-embodied spirits are quite similar to bubbles, except they are lighter than air. When visible to your physical sight, these energy fields have a shimmering translucence that makes them seem barely there until "poof" they disappear and are seemingly no longer anywhere.

Like bubbles, the energy fields of non-embodied spirits are not solid and can change shapes. Much as you use bubble wands to change the size, shape, and look of bubbles, spirit uses thought to change the size, shape and look of their energy fields.

Thus, the spirit of a grandmother who is no longer physically embodied will create an energy field to look as her grandchild best remembers her when she was physically embodied. She will appear to the son she raised as she looked when raising him. Her husband? Have you any doubt that she will appear to him looking as she did when he was courting her?

Perhaps this ability to look as you choose to look in spirit will be of comfort to those of you afraid of dying.

You ask why spirits do not appear more often if they can make their energy fields visible to you. The answer is vibration.

Vibrations are specific movements of energy that create energy fields. The speed - meaning the frequency or rate of movement - of these vibrations determines the density of the energy fields they create.

You understand the correlation between the movement of energy and the density of form. Water, for example, is composed of two parts hydrogen to one part oxygen. The movements of these elements - and the movements of the molecules, atoms and subatomic particles within these elements - determine the density of water.

What happens when you freeze water? You slow down the movements of hydrogen and oxygen and the particles that form them.

These slower movements solidify water into ice. As ice melts, the movements of the elements and particles speed up and ice liquefies to water. Boil water and you speed these movements to a level that decreases the density of water to vapor.

The movements of elements and particles that form matter are generated by energy fields. The movements of sub-atomic particles, for example, generate energy fields that form atoms. The movements of atoms generate energy fields that form molecules. The movements of molecules generate energy fields that form matter.

There are, of course, many forms of matter. There are also, as you shall learn, many forms of non-matter. All forms of matter and non-matter are formed by energy fields.

Energy fields are generated by the light impulses (thoughts) of Spirit and are activated by the movements, or frequencies, of the light vibrations (energy and consciousness) of Spirit.

LIGHT is the act of creation because it is through the movements of the LIGHT that is its essence that Spirit creates.

But I am getting ahead of myself, which is not difficult for LIGHT to do. After all, if all is made of LIGHT, which it is, and if LIGHT is everywhere, which it is, then you could say LIGHT is always ahead of itself, behind itself, inside itself, outside itself, over itself, under itself and beside itself.

Pamela groans. She is beside herself, too. Even as her fingers type LIGHT’S thoughts, she is thinking LIGHT is dealing with heavy matters much too lightly.

I remind her I am LIGHT. I am light in all matters. She groans again, but laughs. That is good. It is when she lightens up that this writing goes much more smoothly. To return to matters at hand, I shall use Pamela’s fingers to continue writing this introductory information about vibrations .

Consciousness has vibrations. Thought has vibrations. Emotion has vibrations. Form has vibrations. All things and all beings have vibrations.

Vibrations affect vibrations. When spirits slow down the vibrations of their energy fields to levels that can be perceived by your senses, they must at the same time avoid becoming ensnared in the energy fields created by your vibrations.

This is difficult to do. It takes great focus and concentration. It is somewhat like being a helicopter pilot trying to rescue survivors at sea. The pilot wants to get the helicopter close enough to the sea for a rescue, but has to avoid getting the helicopter so close it and the pilot are themselves pulled into the sea. The effort is exhausting, even for spirit.

Are you surprised spirit feels exhaustion? Spirit feels mental exhaustion and the vibrations of the earth planes are mentally exhausting for spirit. Why? Because the vibrations of physical form and the vibrations of emotions slow down the vibrations of spirit.

This is what you mean when you say something is "heavy" on your mind. You mean you have thoughts made "heavy" by emotion and this heaviness is "weighing" you down by slowing the vibrations of your spirit. The slower the vibrations of your spirit the less "uplifted" you feel. The less "uplifted" you feel, the heavier your physical being becomes.

It is the higher/faster vibrations of your spirits that enliven your bodies and brains. Yet, if your spirit vibrations are too high you will not be able to stay in your bodies. Maintaining the necessary balance between the higher/faster vibrations of spirit and the lower/slower vibrations of physical form needed for embodiment is mentally exhausting. This is partly why you sleep daily. There are other reasons you sleep, which we shall discuss in these pages.

Whether living or visiting in the realms of form, these realms are made more difficult for spirit because of the energy fields of emotions. Emotions are powerful. Think of emotions as "energy-in-motion" and you will realize why they are powerful. They are powerful because spirit creates through movements of energy.

Many of you have been taught you create through your thoughts. This is correct. But what is thought? I have told you thought is impulses of light. I shall define an impulse of light as a driving, impelling, directive force.

Perhaps a clearer picture will emerge in your minds if you think of the light impulses of thought as flowing currents. It may interest you to know that when your spirits are not in your bodies, you ride the currents of your thoughts to be where you want to be. You think of where you want to be and as quickly as thought, you are there. You might say thought channels spirit as readily as spirit channels thought.

How fast is thought? Think of where you are right now. Now think of being somewhere else. How fast did it take you to switch thoughts? It took the circuitry of the brain less than a split second to make the switch, but it took your minds no time at all. Thought is instantaneous.

If thought is impulses of light and thought is instantaneous, how fast is the speed of light? That is correct, the speed of light is instantaneous. Certainly a lot faster than your physical sciences have yet realized. Of course, physical scientists are measuring forms of light, not light itself.

Light is the prime energy or, if you prefer, the universal energy from which all other energy is formed. Thus all energy other than light is a form of light or, if you prefer, an energy form of light.

Sunlight, for example, is a form - or energy form if you prefer to use this term - of the light that is its essence. Electricity is form of the light that is its essence. Nuclear power is a form of the light that is its essence.

Your essence is light - GOD’S CREATOR ENERGY. You direct this energy with your thoughts to where you will to create what you will.

I know these are "heavy" thoughts. I shall make them lighter, for I am LIGHT. I am your servant.

There, was that light enough?

What makes these thoughts heavy for you is fear. You fear being told you are not your bodies, that you are impulses of light. This seems to you to make you not you for it seems to you that to be impulses of light makes you devoid of individuality and personality.

Yet, here is LIGHT writing to you. Do I seem to be devoid of individuality and personality? Nor are your spirits devoid of individualism and personality. How can they be? You have created individualism and personality. How did you create this except through and with the light that is your essence? Thus, individualism and personality are now part of the essence of your spirits.

This Truth, or Law, or Principle of Spirit has far greater ramifications than you are yet ready to realize. It is my intent to enlighten you in these pages to the benefits to you of reaching a greater realization of this Spiritual Law.

What of ego you ask and the many aspects of ego? Ego and its aspects are part of the mind. What is mind? Mind is a part of spirit designated by spirit to carry out the functions and processes of spirit in the realms of form.

We shall discuss the mind in some detail for without the mind there would be no Creation. Mind and its ego are important to Spirit and as GOD is gaining ever greater knowledge of SELF through Spirit , mind and ego are equally important to GOD, though in the levels of GOD and Higher Spirit there is neither mind nor ego.

A bit of a mystery, isn’t it? It’s also a surprise to many of you who have been taught mind and ego are a separation from GOD. Like many truths, this is a truth from which you have created judgments that are not truth, as you shall see in later chapters.

I have told you emotions are powerful. I have also told you emotions slow down the vibrations of your thoughts. This is in itself powerful for it means emotions affect thought and thus affect the will of spirit. Your bodies and brains are also powerful for they, too, slow down the vibrations of thought and thus affect the will of spirit.

It is true that emotions slow down the vibrations of your thoughts, but it is also true that emotions add power to your thoughts in the realms of form.

In this way emotions are somewhat like the rockets strapped onto a space shuttle to give it "extra" power for propelling it through the earth’s atmosphere, but are jettisoned before the shuttle reaches "outer" space.

Emotions, too, propel your thoughts in the realms of form, meaning they add power to your thoughts, but only in the realms of form. This is because emotions are of the same vibrational range as the vibrations of form and the power of emotions is one of mass - of more energy, not higher energy. Emotions do not lift you out of the realms of form. Emotions keep you in the realms of form. But emotions also add to your power while in the realms of form because they add power to your thoughts.

Some emotions are not as "heavy" as others, meaning some emotions are of a faster, and thus lighter, vibration.

Joy, for example, is of a faster vibration than fear. Joy does not "weigh" you down. Joy increases the vibrations of your bodies because joy "lifts" you by allowing you to feel more - though not all - of the naturally "high" vibrations of your spirits.

Anger, rage, hatred and fear seem to you they are of a faster vibration because these emotions speed up the heart beat and can galvanize the body into physical action. However, while anger, rage, hatred and fear speed up and raise the vibrations of your bodies for faster action, they also slow down the vibrations of your spirits, which lowers your consciousness, even as they add mass to your energy fields of thought. This is why you think less clearly when you are enraged, angry, frightened or hateful. It is also why you tend to become "stuck" in the thoughts to which these emotions are attached.

There is a great deal more to tell you about your emotions for emotions not only add to the power of your thoughts, they are also powerful messengers of mind and spirit. I shall present this information in later chapters for Pamela is right, this chapter is growing quite long with the information on vibrations.

I shall tell you now, however, that even those emotions that lift your embodied spirits are of a slower, denser and thus "heavier" vibration than the spiritual vibrations of your spirits. While emotional love can "lift" your spirits, for example, spiritual love is of a much higher - meaning faster and lighter - vibration than emotional love.

This is why the Essene, Jesus of Nazareth, said to Mary Magdalene after the crucifixion of his body: "Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father."

Jesus was a master soul, meaning his embodied spirit gained mastery over the vibrations of form and emotions. This mastery is what enabled Jesus’ spirit to raise the vibrations of his crucified body to a level in which his spirit was able to convert the physical matter of his body back into the light energy from which physical matter is created.

Jesus is not the only soul to have accomplished this. Nor is he the only spiritual master to "raise the dead" by calling a soul back to its body after raising its vibrations from the levels of death and decay back to the vital levels of life.

Jesus’ extraordinary mastery was the ability to be embodied in the levels of physical and emotional vibration without being affected by them. This is what was meant by his words to "be in the world, not of the world."

Many embodied spiritual masters are able to raise their vibrations by keeping themselves apart from the lower vibrations. Even if they serve in the secular world, they retreat from it frequently and keep their vibrations high with pure food, drink, activities and associations.

The Essenes were a spiritual community that kept themselves apart, though not secluded, for they understood the importance of keeping their bodies and their thoughts in a high vibration.

Jesus was an Essene and was raised and taught in this close knit spiritual community. The Essenes had long dedicated themselves to lifting their vibrations through pure foods, drinks, thoughts, associations and behavior.

As a man, Jesus chose to become part of the more secular communities in which he taught. He ate and drank among them, even when the food and drink were less than pure or clean. He walked, taught, and lived among the unclean and the impure. He associated with the lowly. Jesus’ spiritual vibrations were of such a high level, he was able by his presence alone to lift even the lowest and "heaviest" of vibrations to a higher more spiritual level. His "resurrection" after the death of his body was a powerful demonstration of this spiritual mastery.

Contrary to popular opinion, Jesus did not die for the sins of others. To sin is, as Hugh points out in Book I of this Odyssey Trilogy, to miss the mark - the goals- one has set for oneself. Only the one who sets a mark knows whether it has or has not been missed and what is to be done about it. No one, not even a spiritual master, can restore the "missed marks" of another.

Nor did Jesus suffer in his death, though the torture of his body presented a powerful physical, emotional, mental and spiritual challenge. Jesus met the challenge, never once deserting his body to suffer. His spirit remained with his body to the end and kept its vibrations above the vibrational levels of pain.

Jesus understood what would befall his family, his friends, and his followers, but he did not ache for them nor pity them. He understood their grief, anger and fear, but he did not share these emotions with them nor in their behalf.

Jesus was a spiritual master. He was aware of and understood the supreme importance of the spiritual self. Jesus chose to be crucified to demonstrate through his example the power of the spiritual self to raise the vibrations of physical, emotional and mental agony. Jesus knew every soul has its own spiritual challenges and he rejoiced in the challenges each would meet for he knew the spiritual growth that would follow, whatever the outcome.

Those who were close enough to witness his death saw Jesus did not suffer. But as with many of the demonstrations and teachings of spiritual masters - people see, they hear, and they do not understand, therefore they do not believe. Save for the Essenes who had, like Jesus, learned to lift their vibrations above physical pain, the people remarked among themselves on the remarkable stoicism of Jesus in the face of his suffering. That he did not actually suffer did not even occur to them.

There were many rumors that Jesus had cried out upon the cross, rumors that began when one strong voice rose above the wailing and weeping of the crowd. The voice belonged to a young man who had pushed his way through the crowd. When he had gotten as close as he could get to Jesus he called out to him in what would be translated today as: "Father! Father! Why have you forsaken me?"

The young man was so close in proximity to Jesus and his strained voice was so similar to Jesus’, that many thought it was Jesus who had called out in pain to GOD. They were convinced of this when Jesus then looked down, seemingly at the crowd, and said in a voice made gentle with love: "Forgive them, for they know not what they do."

Jesus was speaking to the young man who had called out for this young man was his son. He had heard the agony in his son’s voice and he knew the anger in his heart. Jesus had prepared his son for what was unfolding, but he knew the young man had not yet lifted his vibrations into the spiritual levels that would help him to rise above his emotions.

I know it is difficult for many to believe that Jesus had a son, for there is no mention of this in the Bible. Nor is it mentioned in the Bible that Mary Magdalene was the wife of Jesus.

Theirs was not a civil marriage, as you would call this today, for they did not register their union with the Roman authorities nor within the temple - both of which they were required by law to do. They joined as husband and wife in a secret spiritual ceremony.

Their union was kept hidden from all but their closest and most trusted family members for Jesus desired to protect Mary from those who would destroy him. Not even all of the apostles were told of the true nature of his relationship with Mary and some among them were jealous of her continual presence with Jesus and resented the affection and favor he showed her.

When Mary conceived, she was closeted among the family of Jesus and after his birth their son remained with Jesus’ family and was raised and taught within the community of the Essenes. His true identity was kept secret though he knew his mother and his father and looked forward to their loving visits with him.

Shortly after the death of Jesus, Mary - pregnant with their second son - was secreted away across the Mediterranean sea to be protected by followers of Jesus. The oldest son remained behind with the Aunt who had raised him for in those days a boy of twelve was considered a man ready to begin his own life’s mission.

My, it is interesting how enlightening a discussion of vibration can be, is it not? Let’s see, how did this discussion of Jesus begin; oh yes, I was explaining why Jesus instructed Mary Magdalene not to touch him when he appeared to her after his resurrection. The reason was vibrations.

Jesus was prepared to die. His death and his manner of death were a planned part of his mission. It was his plan and the plan of the spiritual levels that sent him to teach and to demonstrate and then to leave so those for whom he demonstrated and taught could discover for themselves the truths of the enlightenment he brought them.

Had Jesus wanted to raise his crucified body to a viable physical state for the return of his spirit, he could have done so. Jesus did not want this. It was part of his mission to leave for if the master does not withdraw, the students will never move into their own mastery.

Jesus also wanted to leave behind him the most important of his messages - that the spiritual self is the true self and when the lessons and missions of physical embodiment are completed, union with the spiritual self is a reward far greater and more desirable than physical life.

Jesus wanted to appear in a "spirit form" to show his disciples the death of the physical body is not to be feared. He did not want this spirit form to appear faint or shadowy for "shades" - as spirits were called in those days - frightened the people and made them think the dead gradually faded into "nothingness". He wanted his spirit form to look and feel as vital and as alive as a physical body.

To do this, Jesus needed to create a mental energy field that would perfectly duplicate his physical body in look, feel and touch. To do this, he needed to slow down the vibrations of this mental energy field to the levels of solid physical form without being pulled into the levels of physical form. It is a feat that requires truly extraordinary spiritual mastery.

Jesus did not want to have his physical body in evidence when he returned in a spirit form for this would only confuse his disciples so he used his spiritual mastery to raise the vibrations of his dead body to such a level that he converted it back into light energy. Meaning, Jesus caused his physical body to disappear in a kind of atomic fusion.

When Jesus first appeared to Mary in spirit form he did not appear as himself. He mentally arranged his energy field so he looked like a stranger to her. He did this to test his own strength. He needed to know if he could see Mary and be near her without losing his concentration or his resolve, for he had not yet ascended - meaning lifted up into spiritual vibrations - the physical and emotional love he felt for her.

When Jesus saw he would not falter near her, he altered his appearance as quickly as thought to appear as himself to Mary. When she cried out and reached out to him, he pulled back and forbade it for he knew her physical touch would touch him emotionally and disrupt his focus.

Jesus did not have this difficulty with his disciples or his followers for he had already fully transcended his love for them into the higher vibrations of spiritual love.

Higher and lower when speaking of vibrations does not refer to good or bad or better or worse. Higher vibrations means faster vibrations. Lower vibrations means slower vibrations.

It is true that vibrations of spirit relate not just to the energy of spirit, but also to the consciousness of spirit. The higher the vibration, the greater the consciousness, meaning the more spirit is aware of and understands. The lower the vibration, the lower the consciousness, meaning the less spirit is aware of and understands.

This does not mean the lower levels of consciousness are bad or less than. After all, the GOD purpose of Spirit is to grow in awareness and understanding through the creation and experiencing of Creation. It would be impossible for Spirit to fulfill its GOD purpose without experiencing and mastering all vibrations.

I know it is often difficult to accept new information, especially when it seems contrary to what one has already accepted as truth. Once again, I remind you, truth often has dimensions that appear when the seeker is ready for greater awareness and understanding.

Jesus taught as all spiritual masters teach; he taught in the ways the people he taught could grasp and understand. For Jesus, this meant teaching in parables - in symbolic stories, symbolic words, and symbolic terms - the people of his time could relate to and understand.

When Jesus spoke of "My Father", for example, he was speaking of the relationship of the spiritual self to GOD in a way that made sense to the people he was teaching. References to "The Son of GOD" were symbolic of the spiritual self and reference to the "Son of Man" were symbolic of the human body.

It was not Jesus that called himself "the only begotten son of GOD". It was his disciples who did this after his death for they conspired together and agreed the most powerful way to get the people to listen to them was to convince them of the divinity of Jesus. It was partly for this reason also that they did not tell the people that the body Jesus showed them after his death was not physical. Secondly, they doubted the people would understand. They, themselves, barely understood.

Nor was it Jesus who called himself "The Messiah". He accepted this mantle given him by others for he knew it to be symbolic of the divinity of the spiritual self.

When Jesus said, "I am the way, follow me" his meaning was to live as he lived, in the higher vibrations of the spiritual self. Not his spiritual self, your spiritual self. This is what all true spiritual masters teach.

Jesus spoke truly when he told those who followed his teachings that they would - if they lifted their vibrations - do what he did and more, for as the soul grows and progresses, so does the spiritual self grow and progress.

When Jesus spoke of the resurrection of souls, he was speaking of the continual re-birth of souls into various life times so every soul may experience many vibrations through which to grow spiritually.

When Jesus said, "This generation shall not pass away until these things come to pass" he was telling those to whom he spoke that they would live other life times and would experience in these life times the things he prophesied to them.

When Jesus spoke of his own return, he was referring to the non-physical form of his spirit. When he said to "look to the east" he pointed to the rising sun as symbolic of the GOD LIGHT within, for it is through this light that salvation - spiritual enlightenment - comes.

Jesus, were he alive today, would teach differently. Humans have evolved in consciousness. There is now a greater ability to understand what he taught. Imagine him speaking to the people of the first century about vibrations, energy fields, spiritual self, levels of mind and spirit, aspects of GOD, or cell consciousness. They would have had no idea what he was talking about.

There are people today who will find it difficult to accept that it is LIGHT - the essence of your spirits, your minds, and your bodies - that is "made in the image of GOD".

There are people today who will find it difficult to accept that the human body has indeed been created through evolution. Yet just as many will resist accepting it is GOD Energy that is the essence of Nature it is this LIGHT OF GOD that Nature uses for creation and pro-creation.

Many will not want to accept that "Holy Works" are not always to be taken literally nor that they are fallible. But it is in the nature of those who transcribe, copy and proclaim such works to be "holy" to also add, delete and edit. It has certainly been amply demonstrated that it is in the nature of human souls to alter the facts when it is long enough after the facts that few are able to prove they have been altered.

It is also in the nature of progressing souls to misunderstand what they receive and to proclaim the misunderstanding as unalterable truth. It is the nature of progressing souls to fail to realize truth grows as the soul grows.

The value of "Holy Works" is in the intent with which one approaches them. Desire to know - even if it challenges what is already believed - and you shall receive what you are ready to know. Do not accept what you receive as the "final truth" for the truth will grow as you grow in awareness and understanding.

Pamela is aware we have come to a natural end to this chapter, though she is wondering, as are many of you, why this chapter is named Signs & Omens and why the promised material has not been written in it.

She means I have yet to explain the difference between a spirit channel and a spirit medium or how and why she and Hugh, among many of you, have been chosen as messengers of Higher Spirit and LIGHT.

The reason I have yet to write of these things is enlightenment intervened and altered the course of what was planned. A good demonstration, is it not, that even GOD’S LIGHT cannot set the future.

I am keeping Signs & Omens as the title of this chapter because the title fits, for what you have read n this chapter are portents of what I have to share with you in following chapters.

I AM LIGHT. I AM GOD’S LIGHT. I AM THE LIGHT OF SPIRIT. Open to the light within you for this light shall connect the bridge between us and open you to the truths you are ready to receive as we continue.
